General informations

A typical North American numbering plan requires corporate users at dial pad 9 in order to get an outside wire and expect a secondary dial tone.

Change the prefix digit for Access to the outside wire

Complete these steps to change the prefix digit for outside wire access. In this example, the number 4 is used to access the PSTN.

Log in tothe Cisco CallManager administration page.

Route Plan > Selected Route Pattern / Search Route .

Update the number 9 with the new number you want to use to access the PSTN line.

This example uses the number 4.

Click on Update .

The page refreshes and displays the updated information.

Verification

Check the routing plan status to verify changes to the route pattern.

Map Routing > state selected routing plan .

Click on Find and get the full report.

Scroll down the Status screen and make sure the Update Route Pattern appears on the Status.

Users can now use the number 4 to access an outside wire.

Configure a user group to directly dial only the outside wire

In some customer environments, it is sometimes necessary to allow a group of users to only have contact with the outside world and not to have contact in the customer network.

As an example scenario, a group of users called Agents can make calls only to the outside world. They are not required to dial any digit access to the PSTN line. The second group of users called Executives can make a call to any other executive and agent and can access the PSTN line by dialing 9.

Complete these steps to implement the required restrictions:

Create three partitions:

External_Numbers_for_Executives

External_Numbers_for_Agents

Create the two Calling Search Spaces (CSS):

Only_Outside

Assign the External_Numbers_for_Agents partition to the CSS.

All_Numbers

Assign the Internal_Numbers and External_Numbers_for_Agents partitions to this CSS.

Create two route models:

Assign the route pattern to the External_Numbers_for_Agents partition.

Assign the appropriate gateway or route / hunt group.

Uncheck the provision outside the dial tone check box .

9. @Assign the route pattern to the External_Numbers_for_Executives partition.

Assign the appropriate gateway or route / hunt group.

Check the supply outside the dial tone checkbox .

Configure the agent user group with the partition as Internal_Numbers and the calling search space as Only_Outside.

Configure the user group of executives with the partition as Internal_Numbers and the search space to call as All_Numbers .
